when it comes to ‘everyday fashion,’ whit takes the cake and designer whitney pozgay’s fall 2014 collection is no exception. according to style.com, “pozgay drew upon the whimsical folklore and mid-century modernity of scandinavia for the prints and palette,” and that’s totally good to know and all but in the end, what really matters is that it’s wearable. i do love a unique backstory, though…

for the holiday season, whitney pozgay (aka whit) partnered up with able made, a socially responsible e-commerce site that sells exclusive pieces created to help fund community impact projects around the world. the result is the ‘peru dot’ wristlet, made of natural woven canvas highlighting metallic dots and a soft blue electric colored tassel. it retails for $120 and is sold exclusively on ablemadeshop.com.

according to founder and ceo of able made, suzanne mckenzie, says that the collaboration “will help to elevate awareness about human trafficking as well as provides a month of essential training for 30 peruvian women at risk for human trafficking.”

whit's whitney pozgay has teamed up with anthropologie to launch a collection just for us shorties. no, but literally, all of the pieces in this line are available in petite sizes and some are petite-only. “from personal experience I know what is – and mostly isn’t – out there for petites. i’m excited to give them something beautiful and bold, tailored to fit them to perfection,” pozgay explained. prices range from $148 to $258.

cfda “market day”: whit

last week, i attended the cfda incubator's “market day,” a full day devoted to opening its doors to editors and buyers, allowing them to explore the space and a new crop of designers. the first showroom i popped my head into was that of whit; having just seen whitney pozgay’s fall 2013 presentation, i was psyched to see a marianne faithfull-filled inspiration board in the corner along with some racks of bright, new clothing.

according to wwd, yesterday’s whit presentation for fall 2013 was inspired by marianne faithfull (though they spelled her name wrong — i’m just saying). i could totally see that, mixed with a splash of ‘jackie o at a 2013 keg party’ and ‘lana del rey hair goddess-in-training.’ if the name whit doesn’t seem familiar to you, it will: whitney pozgay really burst onto the fashion scene in 2009 when she launched her own line after two years of being head designer of womenswear for steven alan. she is also kate spade’s niece, so having the design gene didn’t hurt. the cfda incubator took notice of her talent and inducted her into their fold for the 2012-2014 term. keep an eye on this one!

for every semi-acceptable photo, there are seventeen taken by me crouching in between the masses, which is totally well and good, but it would be more so if i weren’t 4’10”.
