cfda “market day”: whit

last week, i attended the cfda incubator’s “market day,” a full day devoted to opening its doors to editors and buyers, allowing them to explore the space and a new crop of designers. the first showroom i popped my head into was that of whit; having just seen whitney pozgay’s fall 2013 presentation, i was psyched to see a marianne faithfull-filled inspiration board in the corner along with some racks of bright, new clothing.

according to wwd, yesterday’s whit presentation for fall 2013 was inspired by marianne faithfull (though they spelled her name wrong — i’m just saying). i could totally see that, mixed with a splash of ‘jackie o at a 2013 keg party’ and ‘lana del rey hair goddess-in-training.’ if the name whit doesn’t seem familiar to you, it will: whitney pozgay really burst onto the fashion scene in 2009 when she launched her own line after two years of being head designer of womenswear for steven alan. she is also kate spade’s niece, so having the design gene didn’t hurt. the cfda incubator took notice of her talent and inducted her into their fold for the 2012-2014 term. keep an eye on this one!

for every semi-acceptable photo, there are seventeen taken by me crouching in between the masses, which is totally well and good, but it would be more so if i weren’t 4’10”.
