in the past two weeks alone, i’ve purchased all of the items above because i can’t walk by a uniqlo and not enter and not buy anything; it just doesn’t seem possible lately considering all the really great stuff in-store right now. feel free to quote me, but i’m pretty sure uniqlo knocked gap out of the running for “sara’s current favorite store.”
the news that suno and uniqlo have partnered up for a fast fashion collaboration has the internet abuzz. judging by the lookbook, which fashionista so graciously revealed, it is very suno and the brand has not lost an ounce of its culture-inspired prints in the process of dropping prices as low as $19.90. the collection launches on may 20.
it’s rare that i’m like, “man, why don’t i live in england?” simply because i am more than a little obsessed with new york city, but this lulu guinness for uniqlo collaboration is exclusive to the united kingdom. you could say i’m pretty bitter about it.
you need to run and not even think about walking to your nearest uniqlo or uniqlo.com because when i say that it has your future spring wardrobe, i’m not kidding. i don’t kid about those kinds of things. (but really, i’ve been there three times this week alone.)
though this collaboration is set to launch exclusively in the uk (bummer), it is too exciting to not mention. british textile designer celia birtwell has partnered up with uniqlo on a capsule clothing clothing that includes dresses, tunics, tees, and totes covered with vintage and contemporary prints created by birtwell, all of which have been “rescaled and reworked to fit the clothing and accessories.” i am not opposed to becoming a pen pal to a british reader in order to get my hands on these, fyi.
the only thing better than a gift? …a gif! get it? those moveable digital images? come on. anyway, this is where uniqlo is taking that pun and making it better this holiday season.
by commissioning seven gif artists (and snagging email addresses in the process—smart), visitors to uniqlo.com/gifbox are asked to submit their email addresses to open a mystery “gif box.” each box contains an animation and, in most cases, an online coupon for $5 off a future purchase of $50+, valid through the end of the year. one hundred boxes contain a gif that can be cashed in for a $500 gift card.
with the +j diffusion line gone, uniqlo has a void to fill in its puffy down outerwear category. that’s where theory steps in. the brand known for streamlined, minimalist shapes has partnered up to create a capsule collection of jackets and vests priced from $99 to $149. pieces will be available at both uniqlo and theory stores beginning november 15, which shows a lot of confidence on the part of theory.
