racked recently announced that target has created an in-house bridal collection.
women should be able to afford a beautiful wedding dress at any price-point, but realistically, would you buy it from target? while you’re walking from aisle to aisle picking up hanes boxer-briefs and a gallon of milk? of course, you’ll only wear the dress one time before putting it in storage until you can pass it along to your daughter/niece/so on. i wonder how they’ll fit and feel on a woman’s body since they are the epitome of “off the rack.” there are 4 wedding gown styles, 10 for bridesmaids, and 2 flower girl dresses; prices range from $24.99 to $129.99.
have you heard the news that phillip lim would be target’s next designer collaboration? this is pretty big. what’s even bigger is that lim will be creating a much more well-priced version of his pashli bag, a fraction of the cost at $35 (the luxe version is nearly $1k).
admittedly, i often get psyched upon first learning of these partnerships, but my hopes are often dashed upon the final reveal; the quality is rarely top-notch and pieces fall apart after a few wears. will this time be like the others? we’ll see in september.
you need to know that target has built a life-sized dollhouse (so, basically, a house?) inside of grand central station’s vanderbilt hall to promote its new “threshold” collection of furniture, decor, and housewares. while the installation is amazing, i have no doubt that this will provide an opportunity to weep at the tininess of my own apartment.
thanks to fashionista, you now have the full picture of what kate young cooked up for target this spring — judging by all the tulle and shiny polyester, it is perfect for a prom or makeshift oscars viewing party. that sounds so harsh when i read it back to myself, but i really do like the three looks above. anyway, the collab arrives on april 14.
terry richardson snagged himself a rather interesting new gig — it’s with target. what isn’t as interesting (it kind of makes sense) is that said gig has photographed kate young’s ad campaign for her upcoming partnership with the store. peeking at the image above, the campaign clearly brings four indie style icons to the mass retail forefront: leigh lezark, nathalie love, hailey gates, and lily kwong.
the upcoming collaboration, which has pieces that range in price from $29.99 to $89.99, features dresses, shoes, and accessories. it is also a bold move for target as this will be the first diffusion line from a non-designer. (young is a stylist.)

like any other store stocking an array of product, i can find both attractive and unattractive items. i haven’t shopped at target in a while, but have found that you get what you pay for; the clothing is affordable and usually lasts a season with substantial wear. with that said, i did find some things on target.com that would fit well in my closet.
this morning, it was announced that über cool stylist kate young would be creating a diffusion line with — obviously — target. the 30-piece collection will launch april 14 with everything priced below $90. correct me if i’m wrong, but this will be target’s first collab with a non-designer. nevertheless, young has a great eye and has experience as natalie portman’s stylist, working with derek lam, being anna wintour’s assistant, and styling dior ad campaigns — all impressive tasks resulting in high marks.
thanks to fashionista, you can now check out the prabal gurung for target collection in its entirety; the standouts in this diffusion line are definitely the prints. looking through it, i’ll be candid: there is going to be a lot of cheap-looking footwear and jewelry come february 10. most prices ring in under $50 (the peak, a leather jacket, will cost $199).
if you were looking for another fashion blogger to post about the news that prabal gurung is soon to launch a collection with target, then here you go: it’s happening. according to gurung, “this collection was inspired by love and if target’s guests can feel even a little bit of the love that i felt while i was designing this collection, then i will consider it a job well done.” that’s some deep shit right there.
the line includes clothes from $20-200 as well as accessories, shoes, and jewelry from $13 to $40. get them in stores and on target.com beginning february 10.
target knows what it’s doing, you guys. it’s hip to trends and the latest *thing*in online media is—i need a drumroll for this one—shoppable video. as consumers, we all know that it’s imperative to see clothing in particular on a human body to know how items will fit, so by combining this theory with adorable celebrities (kristen bell, let me pinch your cheeks) and a “buy now” element, i have a feeling it will greatly assist in sales.
