it isn’t news that i am [and have been] obsessed with opening ceremony’s blog, but a recent post following the design path of knitwear from resort 2013 only makes me want to sing further praises of the retailer. as you can see, the cardigans started from mere sketches before being conceptualized on a computer and then hand-embroidered.

woah, woah, woah, woah, i somehow missed that holographic item of amazingness when the resort 2013 shows were revealed, but i need to step back a few hundred paces to admire it right now. it seems to have been subtly placed in the first look of the proenza schouler lookbook; that isn’t nearly enough as i believe this crossbody deserves its own exhibit at the museum of modern art. i can’t seem to find it on opening ceremony’s site, so you know i’m going to continue this grail quest until it turns up.

the opening ceremony resort 2013 collection is now available for purchase and though i could do without the chalky lipstick, i’m gonna need all them clothes right there. i particularly love that raincoat-like contraption and emerald-colored quilted coat.

you’re probably (not) wondering why i haven’t done much resort 2013 coverage this season; i don’t have a particularly good reason other than…well…i have a job and shit’s been poppin’ over here. regardless, i wanted to highlight my favorite looks from kenzo’s collection. you might (not) be asking, “what about the rest of the line?” well, they were questionable at best. click here to see what i’m talking about. yikes.

don’t worry! i may change my mind and do some resort reviews in the near future.

as of five minutes ago, i had somehow let msgm slip me by (for some reason i thought it was mcm? that’s a logical mistake, right?), but i’m shaking myself after seeing the italian brand’s resort 2013 collection. this shit is good right here.

i particularly love the mix of classic glamour and on-trend spunk. by spunk, i’m talking about the neon checker pattern and sporty baseball cap, as seen above. so remember how i didn’t know msgm existed? yeah, that won’t be happening ever again.

the erin by erin fetherston holiday 2013 collection

and here it is: the second half of erin by erin fetherston’s latest, the holiday portion of her resort 2013 collection. this portion is a little darker with much more embellishment. lots of lace, lots of spangles, and not a pair of pants to be found.

price points in this line range from $225 to $695 and the holiday collection will begin to deliver to stores in october & november. expect resort arrivals in december.

after seeing the vivienne tam resort 2013 collection, i felt compelled to show you three of my favorite looks. why? because this is not the vivienne tam you once know, the designer who splattered butterflies and flowers over everything; this vivienne tam is hard and edgy. i am more than pleasantly surprised to see her branching out.

according to the tam team, this particular line was “inspired by the spiritual and ritual significance of the mandala, focuses on tribal graphic prints with clean geometric lines.”

the erin by erin fetherston resort 2013 collection

i’ll let you wait in suspense a little while longer before revealing the holiday portion of erin by erin fetherston’s latest wares, but i think it’s time to show you resort 2013. personally, i could do without the glamour of the nighttime frocks (seen in the last image), but that’s only because i’m far more comfortable in a leather jacket and jersey pants than sequins. nevertheless, there was so much cute here that i almost couldn’t stand it and though fetherston is known for her frilly femininity, it wasn’t too too.

check back tomorrow to see the conclusion of my visit to the showroom.

wanna know what’s some smart business? giving your loyal customers/fans/followers an exclusive piece of your brand, particularly via social media. karen walker did just that by previewing its resort 2012 collection on facebook. it’s that feeling of exclusivity and appreciation for “the consumer” that keeps people coming back.

this is one of those moments where i’m cursing the powers that be for not creating money-growing trees. carven’s resort 2012 is so good that it is giving me heartburn.
