even though rebecca minkoff's latest collection was designed for resort 2015, which is an inter-season line before spring, i am adamant that retailers at this current moment in time would do well to stock it. look at these glorious outfits — the styling, all those bright colors and prints, the easy-breezy attitude. what i’ve always loved about minkoff is her ability to churn out very wearable designs and each collection she creates ready-to-wear is an opportunity to drain your bank account and amp up your wardrobe.
last week, i attended a preview of rebecca minkoff's latest for pre-fall (and stupidly forgot my camera). though i was surprised to see a lack of texture typical of the designer, the bags on display were an interesting mix of shapes and colors — more much black and white than what is usually shown. jewelry was equally as understated but still maintained signature minkoff flair. what was most impressive to me? her line of sunglasses, which grows more extensive with each passing season.
in addition to the stand-out handbags and clothing at rebecca minkoff's preview, the baubles were pretty impressive. the designer has definitely been stepping up her game with regard to her statement pieces, which focused heavily on claw and feather motifs.
the footwear seen at rebecca minkoff’s spring 2014 preview was…eclectic. as you can tell, styles ranged from bad-ass motorcycle owner who could cut a bitch to patchouli-loving hippie chick. so, basically, there is something for everyone.
yesterday, i gave you a peek at rebecca minkoff's spring 2014ready-to-wear, but now we get to the good stuff — the bags. this is definitely the category where minkoff shines and this extensive line-up of styles is clearly the bread and butter of her collection. there are pops of color, floral print, subtle studding, and even a little fringe.
earlier this week, i attended the rebecca minkoffspring 2014 collection preview, which allowed me to get up close and intimate with the designer’s upcoming wares. while i didn’t have the patience to sift through the racks of clothing (undiagnosed adhd?), minkoff’s standouts had to be her moto jackets, located front-and-center. the pastels colors with subtle studding gave the classic piece of outerwear a funky twist.
less than a day after her show, rebecca minkoff took some time out of her busy schedule to hang with us plebeians (and by plebeians, i mean a select group of lucky tumblrs) for an intimate breakfast on the rooftop of nylo, a soon-to-open boutique hotel in the upper east. minkoff was especially psyched to chat about her collaboration with tumblr and nordstrom in a “you choose the winner” tee-and-tote contest, which gave tumblr users the ability to pick a design and model to rock it — it was even worn on the runway! the tee and tote are now available for purchase at nordstrom and online.
