did you hear? oscar de la renta is designing a line for the outnet. this is pretty big news considering de la renta’s last low budg creation was a water bowl for target this past holiday season (it’s on sale!), and even bigger news is that the clothes are pretty cute. the collection (the bulk of which are dresses) ranges in price from $325 to $1,295, a huge drop in comparison with his typical dresses, some of which cost upwards of several grand. though the outnet has partnered with big names in the past such as anna sui, alexander mcqueen, and erdem, this plans to be its largest to date — making complete sense, olivia palermo has been named its “face.”

shoppers get the opportunity to preview the collection on february 19 via a teaser video.

this little surprise of an esprit d’oscar perfume ring planted itself on my desk yesterday (oh you fancy, huh?) in celebration of its release tomorrow. what makes it particularly special is that you will be able to buy it for $65 exclusively on the oscar de la renta facebook fan page. now that is digital at its best. you go, oscar.

side note: yes, i know that i need to re-paint my nails. stop judging me.

the oscar de la renta spring 2012 collection

you’re probably wondering why the only content i’m tossing at you from the oscar de la renta show is of models’ rear ends. well, despite sneaking into a seat in the corner of the front row, those models were moving at lightning speed, thus preventing me from getting solid shots. nevertheless, this isn’t a bad thing; if you’re going to spend a fafillion dollars on couture, shouldn’t it look as good from the back as it does from the front? i make an excellent point here, don’t i? in true de la renta style, his extreme attention to detail is seen from every angle. i particularly loved the grace coddington hair and color palette, which included lime and acid greens, red and pale pink.

last night at 6pm, oscar de la renta revealed his resort 2011 collection (you can watch the show here) to [as-of-yet] rave reviews. continuing what i’ve felt about the brand for more than a few seasons now, the pieces were modern and…dare i say it…young. we all know how up-to-date mr. dlr is with technology, so it should come as no surprise that he has stayed current on trends and made a concerted effort to appeal to women of all ages. an inter-generational oscar, if you will.

this particular line presented looks for every occasion: outfits perfect for days lounging on the beach, running around town or cocktails with the girls at night, even couture for a spur-of-the-moment ball. to be expected, oscar’s true talents shone in the latter.

today, there’s no question that the most important consumer is the professional woman. there has never been in the history of time a woman more in control of her destiny than today.
