the gap has finally revealed its first collection under the helm of [semi-]new creative director rebekka bay and the change is obvious in the sleek and understated designs.

but we were prepared for this — back in december, bay clearly explained her goals, “i think gap has always been the greatest iconic american casualwear brand, and that’s really what i want it to be. i want to own super casual, iconic pieces and be the go-to brand for the wardrobe — almost like building blocks.” this first bay-branded collection certainly has me excited to see more. also, gimme dat tropical print bomber.

i almost bought this floral bomber jacket at the gap this weekend but then didn’t and now i’m regretting it because ‘buyer’s remorse’ is a fickle, fickle bitch.

while you were wearing pajamas for four days straight, drinking an a+ combination of frangelico and swiss miss (just me? okay), gap teamed up with visionaire on a pretty bad-ass line of tees. according to refinery29, just 300 of each design are available, and the shirts will only be sold through the retailer’s miami and new york flagships, v-files, and the webster miami. expect more designs to be released throughout 2014.

this partnership is just the beginning of a new direction for gap, one ushered in by its recently-hired creative director, rebekka bay. “i think gap has always been the greatest iconic american casualwear brand, and that’s really what i want it to be. i want to own super casual, iconic pieces and be the go-to brand for the wardrobe — almost like building blocks,” she explained. i am so, so down with that.

this quilted puffer-like moto jacket is making me feel feelings of the most positive sort. you, too? well, it is from the gap and priced under $100, so there’s that.

for the most part, my wardrobe perpetually reeks of “tomboy,” which means that i am certainly a huge fan of gq's 'best new menswear designers of america' partnership with gap. this is the second collaboration between the two brands and while it may read strangely (a print pub designing a retail collection?), i have no doubt that the upcoming 37-piece line-up will be one for the ages; last year’s flew off the shelves. the items were created for the male set but i will be scrambling to snag that baldwin shawl cardigan.

if you’ve turned on your computer lately, you probably know that gap is killin’ it more than usual. no? it’s been off? sara zucker to the rescue! anyway, the retailer has needed some help these past few years after the debacle that was patrick robinson (sorry, bro), but it seems to be getting back on its feet thanks to a new creative director, rebekka bay, and this sexy-as-hell fall 2013 collection.

see the select looks above, carefully chosen due to my own selfishness? they are all a part of gap's upcoming spring collection. right? you were surprised, too. leaning a bit toward a madewell aesthetic, i would be thrilled to plaster small stars all over my thighs, so you can bet that i’ll scoop up those skimmers in the bottom lefthand corner.

is that striped situation a dress? i love. where from?

would you believe that it is not a dress? in fact, on a recent trip to the gap, i was feeling sassy and combined a waffle tee and knit skirt to create the illusion you see/saw above. (tuck the shirt in for a similarly sleek, one-piece look.)

i am not ready for spring—not even close. winter has barely poked its stiff, chilly finger in my face, but all of the spring 2013 lookbooks are revealing collections that have me writing a wishlist of the pieces i’m gonna need. since most of my wardrobe is made up of things from the gap, obviously i eagerly awaited a peek at the upcoming line. here it is! keep your eyes open for these looks to arrive in stores in the coming months.

what to expect? a splash of prep, a dash of bohemian, and a heavy sprinkle of comfort.
