i had been alerted of emily blunt’s plans to go pink for the punkified met gala but doubted that the result would be as glorious as the eye look created by james boehmer for creatures of the wind spring 2013. and since i admit defeat when necessary, i was proven wrong — it was stellar. recreate it using jardin des plantes satin lip pencil.

know what’s cool? learning shit. in an effort to stay up-to-date on the digital industry, my rss reader is crammed full of sites like psfk; thanks to said site, i learned that topshop unique featured prints in its fall 2013 line that would be more at home in an english pub than on a runway. overall, the brand took inspiration from the brit pop era of the 90s (aka “british grunge”) and photos of football managers in their signature sheepskin jackets, seen most clearly in the collection’s over-sized outerwear.

the more you know.

every season without fail, celine has a runway show and fanatics go crazy. it’s like a cult phenom. this time, the luxury label donned its models in furry footwear (weird), scrunchies (inappropriate), snazzy house slippers, and lunch bags. wait a second…

the bags, though looking like the paper contraptions that typically hold your peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, are actually leather and cost a pretty penny, so i had to share a less costly alternative when i found it: bodega bags. simply roll it up.

rather than spending a crapload of benjamins on a fashion show and/or party, l’wren scott took the thrifty route by hosting her spring 2013 collection reveal on—what else—instagram. finally, a designer gets it. it isn’t like the looks wouldn’t be shown on the platform anyway, especially with the way people (including myself) have been documenting their fashion week experiences this year. what makes it even cooler was the personal touch—scott added little comments with each uploaded outfit.

go on and follow her on twitter or instagram to see what i’m talking about.

not that you care (do you? do you really?), but i’m still sad that my schedule was too cray during fashion week to allow me to attend the cynthia rowley spring 2013 presentation (though, judging by this video, it was more of a party). thank goodness i can live vicariously through its attendees by watching the vimeo-hosted clip.

according to the designer, the inspiration behind the display came from its event space. “when i entered this space with its decayed beauty, i imagined a glamorous party…” thus, celebration became the theme for spring, with confetti prints, foiled lace, and metallic satchels “the perfect size for a party invite.” she also invented bangles that double as flasks. nothing compares to how awesome that is.

did you see the dries van noten spring 2013 collection? whether the answer is “yes” or “no,” once you click here, you’ll know exactly why i couldn’t not post about it. strong statement alert: i am not over-exaggerating when i write that this my be my favorite of any fashion week in any city ever. i don’t know what else to do with my fingers now. i cannot beat this moment. i might as well just call it a day. you all carry on now.

despite claiming that i wouldn’t be covering much of nyfw, i am taking fifteen steps back to redact that statement and use this moment of your time letting you know that the proenza schouler spring 2013 collection was inspired by tumblr. i know, right?

from a glance, it’s hard to see our beloved social-networking blogging platform in the looks strutting down the runway—look closer to see the collage-like prints.

we all spend so much time and effort fawning over the good-looking collections shown at fashion week, but what about the ones from hotmessville, u.s.a.? for example, the footwear at prada, the headgear at giles, and the ravers from louise gray? some designers have been smoking too much hashish, if you ask me.

i know you’re probably thinking to yourself “um, but if i wanted to look at pretty pictures from fashion week, i would just go to style.com myself,” but why do that when i can do the work for you and break down the show in true sara zucker style? you come here for my pizzazz, don’t you? that being said, i think you need to take a moment to bask in the wonder of the metallics at jonathan saunders. to find an effect most often found on skyscrapers and sunglasses and fun stickers from 5th grade that told you what a great job you were doing in moto jacket form is blowing my mind.
