if you’re in the manhattan area, i encourage you to stop by the club monaco beach shop at 390 bleecker street because it will definitely help you with summertime wardrobe prep. the store exclusively stocks wares for the upcoming season and may i just say that it is adorable. i’m not a beach person (i don’t like sweating and/or getting sand in my crevices) but i may just hit up the shore after a future trip to the shop.

not in new york? many of the items available in-store can be found online.

the club monaco beach shop is pretty amazing. don’t worry, i’ll show you everything.

oh, club monaco, how i love thee. but really, don’t you agree that the retailer has been looking more and more expensive (yet staying the same price)? spring 2013 displays your standard trends — color-blocking, cobalt blue, cameo appearances by athleticwear — with more minimalism and a southern california flair.

there are a handful of retailers that can do no wrong in my book — asos, gap, uniqlo — and club monaco is one of them. i went into the flatiron location last night to pick up some things and walked around the store declaring (to myself, because i’m not a crazy person) “oo, that’s cute” and “damn, girl” on more than three occasions.

basically, if you’re looking for a spring must-have or something more classic, club monaco has you covered with what they’ve got in stock right now.

club monaco’s spring 2013 lookbook was outside of its typical box. like, way. instead of the usual model-stands-against-stagnant-background compilation, the retailer pushed its ladies and fellas onto the streets of nyc to flaunt its wares.

the ladies line-up consists of a color palette splashed with dutch blue, orange, pink, and melon, with unique textural combinations — lace with metallic, lace with leather, and knits with sheer fabrics. aligning with the trends of the season, there are also plays on athleticwear and 90s minimalism. expect clothes to begin arriving stores this month.

sara! what is the dress/brand that you posted on your twitter under "First reso: Slimmer dresses in 2013"? What would you call that type of dress (color-blocked? illusion?)? It's so cute! Can you show me some other varieties of this dress?

thank you! (for those of you who don’t follow me on twitter or instagram, my anonymous friend is referring to this morning’s #wiwt.) i snagged the dress at a club monaco sample sale and would categorize it as both “colorblock” and “illusion” because of its vertical panel. unfortunately, it is no longer available, but a.b.s. has something similar.

club monaco has definitely been getting its feet wet when it comes to collaborating with like-minded brands. first came erickson beamon, then marcia patmos, and now fox & flyte. the online british purveyor of vintage finds has curated club monaco’s holiday windows with a combination of antique objects and more recent knick-knacks thanks to a recent visit to the brimfield antique show. according to the press release, the overarching idea is that fox & flyte is “discovering new york for the first time through timeless pieces of art and artifacts.” the windows will be on display until december 31.

this sparkly semi-structured dress was definitely my favorite of all the pieces in the club monaco spring 2 collection. would it be wrong to wear a spring dress in winter? it would be perfect for a holiday party. also, please note the inimitable ann watson, vice president of marketing and communications for the club monaco brand. #chicwomanalert

there is a chill in the air, but that shouldn’t stop me from enjoying club monaco’s bold spring offerings, right? bueller? after showing you some of the details of this upcoming collection, i thought it pertinent to inform you that the clothes seen above were inspired by the “urban tropics,” as in the idea of a city-dwelling gal/gent visiting a tropical landscape. the result is a brightly-colored line-up of unexpected prints include neon camo, photofloral, and warm weather brocade. very little black was seen; instead, there were pops of white against a palette of blues, greens, and orange.

expect the spring 2 collection to arrive in stores this march, april, and may.
