and here’s the rest of the ann taylor summer 2012 collection. there was a bright burst of wearable neon, a palette of sunset-colored grecian gowns, and an updated collection of separates for work. “updated” as in, this ain’t your mom’s separates; every piece of white and black clothing was mix and matchable, which is imperative when creating a conservative office wardrobe. the final section was, in my opinion, one of the most important. it was full of nautical resort pieces, but also ann’s very first swimwear line. i will definitely be checking out the retro-inspired suits when they land in stores.

as i revealed earlier in the week, i had the opportunity to check out ann taylor’s newest collection for summer 2012. (i hope you don’t mind, but it was so full of awesomeness that i had to split it into two image-heavy posts.) last season featured tons of punchy shades and this collection merely continued into a colorful line for the warmer months.

and can we take a moment to bask in the glory that was the accessories? i mean, the bracelets, necklaces, belts, and purses were so much better than what i could have ever imagined. the ann taylor accessories department is underrated. there was intricate wiring, chunky rhinestones, and…basically, they were all incredibly eye-catching.

every season for the past few, i’ve looked forward to seeing what ann taylor has cooked up. i used to be more of a loft fan, but since i’ve started attempting to look more like a businesslady, my style has veered into ann taylor territory. look at all that texture! the bright, punchy colors! those classic, wearable shapes designed to fit every woman! obviously i was pleased to see all that neon, but the addition of leather paneling (especially the leather paneling), metallic shimmer and matte sequin detailing were definite highlights. the spring collection was divided into color palettes of turquoise/neon yellow/navy, blush/ivory/peach, black/tan/coral and seafoam/cobalt/bright pink. overall, i rate the clothes and accessories a “g” for “gimme that.”

as i mentioned yesterday, i attended the ann taylor fall 2011 collection preview at beauty & essex on wednesday night. we can say i had too much fun and leave it at that, but it wouldn’t do the night justice. to begin, the clothes were divine…

nubby knits, shimmering shells, lush neutrals mixed with burgundy and emerald; basically, these clothes made me want to be a classier woman. they made me want to throw out my hoodies and men’s undershirts and become *a real 25-year-old.*

animal print is here to stay by the look of things, as is faux fur and an overall 70s aesthetic. take out your wide-brimmed hats, color-blocked blouses and long coats!

in addition to all of the beautiful clothing, dj mia moretti was on hand to spin and the tastiest hors d’œuvres this side of the atlantic. i also drank wwaaayyy too much champagne for someone of my stature. again, many thanks to ann taylor for inviting me!
