aldo’s summer 2013 collection has been revealed. given my penchant for pointed flats, i obviously only saw these two styles and nothing else because what else matters but pointy-toed footwear? to be really real, they make up my entire foot wardrobe.
aldo shoe or wearable work of artistic genius? you decide. in the meantime, i’m going to place this heel in the metropolitan museum of art and see what happens.
those studded sneakers aren’t the result of one diy blogger’s latest arts and crafts project with a pair of vintage converse and a handful of thorny objects, no, they are soon-to-be available at your local aldo store. also, i plan to purchase them.
during my visit to aldo headquarters a couple of weeks ago, one part of the tour took place in the “visual presentation” room, basically a mock-up store featuring the fall/winter 2012 collections. here are some styles you can see in stores now—or soon.
cap-toe pumps, coming to an aldo store near you. wham, bam, thank you, ma’am.
thakoon tunic, antique necklace, gap “boyfriend” jeans, aldo wedge sneakers (c/o)
i really liked the outfit i put together the other night, is that so wrong? cc: laura

i know, talking about my visit to montreal is bordering on overkill already, but i haven’t even started with the good stuff: what happened while i was there. i think it’s pretty clear that i love aldo and all of the people that work there, but this experience allowed me to really solidify a relationship that has been building for almost a year. in conjunction with insidefmm, i was invited with four of my friends to stay in a lovely hotel and attend the brand’s 40th anniversary party and launch of an interactive pop-up on rue sainte-catherine. filling up a two-floor space was booths educating attendees about aldo and its history, including how styles were born, what the warehouses look like, and even viewing the desks of employees from above. while i was there, myself and the other invited bloggers also experienced a tour of headquarters and given a sneak peek of upcoming styles. unfortunately, i cannot reveal them to you yet (embargo dates, etc. etc.), but i will show you some favorites that you can expect to see in aldo stores soon.
what i really loved most about my trip was that the lack of structure encouraged creativity in a far more organic way that if i had a list of rules to follow. you’d think the opposite, right? heck no. instead, i was able to explore aldo’s flagship and see its influence on the city itself. it also showed the great respect and trust aldo has in its relationships. i sincerely hope that more brands move in this direction.
disclosure: i was provided with lodging and a stipend for attending this event.
just great, i came back from montreal with a cold, so i’m going to spend the day in bed, reminiscing about when the champagne was flowing, shoes were everywhere, and i was hanging out with some of the most awesome people i’ve met in a long time.
i’m back from canada and a trip to aldo headquarters, also known as “heel heaven.”
