a few weeks back, i had the didn’t-know-it-would-be-as-wonderful-as-it-was-until-i-got-there opportunity to attend a preview of aimee kestenberg’s latest wares.

if you didn’t understand what i tried to say in that first sentence, it was basically that i hadn’t previously been aware of what the designer has been churning out. i was able to chat with aimee who revealed that her overall goal as a designer is to create great bags at approachable prices (under $300); in my opinion, she has achieved that goal.

i recently stumbled upon looks from all saints’ current collection, which as you can see above, is enough to make a grown (wo)man cry. i’ve created a grail quest for myself to purchase the perfect pair of worn-in, over-sized denim shorts this season, so i have hope that they will be found at all saints — or a local thrift shop. either one ;)

when you think of headgear, hats and headbands likely come to mind, but what about audio accessories? initially a danish party collective of talented industrial designers, audio technicians, and djs, the group decided to try something new by creating the brand aiaiai. they have a mission (“have fun”) and a line of ear and headphones minimalist enough to please both men and women of any style aesthetic.

note: the style shown costs a reasonable $99 and fold up to be easily transportable.

women should be able to afford a beautiful wedding dress at any price-point, but realistically, would you buy it from target? while you’re walking from aisle to aisle picking up hanes boxer-briefs and a gallon of milk? of course, you’ll only wear the dress one time before putting it in storage until you can pass it along to your daughter/niece/so on. i wonder how they’ll fit and feel on a woman’s body since they are the epitome of “off the rack.” there are 4 wedding gown styles, 10 for bridesmaids, and 2 flower girl dresses; prices range from $24.99 to $129.99.

according to the daily mail, urban outfitters has plans to open an in-store bar within a soon-to-open outpost. big shock: the store will be located in williamsburg. this has the potential to be the best/worst example of “drunk shopping” ever in existence; you’ll prob leave with a bag full of crop tops, neon running shorts, and a tie dyed scrunchie.

do you feel awkward in the fashion community because your style is not traditionally... fashionable? I only see your style here and it's very different from what other self-proclaimed "fashion people" exhibit. are there a lot of girls like you in NYC and we just don't know about them?

holy crap, i love this question! the answer is no, not at all. this blog is an extension of me and, therefore, my taste; i have reached a level of comfort and confidence with it that kind of transcends what other people think. when it comes to fashion, i enjoy being accepted but do not yearn for acceptance. i truly believe that personal style is personal and there is no true definition of a “fashion person” because of it.
