you know i love me some menswear-inspired footwear, so of course i took to the verlain booth at magic like a duck to a pond. before attending the trade show, i had never heard of mark lu or his brand of oxfords, but thanks to rebecca and renee of styluste, i was turned on to his creative spirit. unfortunately, i did not have a chance to meet the designer when i had a moment to stop over to his booth (and i sure hope he doesn’t mind my having snapped some photos of the stock) because he must have stepped away, but seeing the wide expanse of materials and textures used in the styles shown was awe-inspiring. hello, neon green? patent silver? my feet would be in heaven. according to rebecca, prices for a pair of verlain oxfords are a little higher than my usual budget, but still accessible at around $290.
