Cris B. recently contacted us here at Styld (You can, too!). She had bought this lovely Theory “Sori” skirt, a black floral, and styled it with a matching black shirt only to find that she had suddenly become a mourner. Wanting to break away from her self-inflicted funeral attire, she turned to us for help.
Though I am all for a monotone outfit, matching blacks can sometimes run you into a bit of a pickle as the undertones can range from red to purple to blue. With Spring approaching, bringing in a bit of color is a great thing; combine your skirt with a crisp white tank and opaque berry-colored tights. This will allow you to break out of that dark rut while mixing classic, seasonless shades and an unexpected shot of brightness. Add black patent knee-high boots for a simple, yet chic, look. By adding the boots and colored tights, you are bringing two awesome trends into an outfit that would otherwise be…dare I say it…flavorless.
If you have a style question, don’t hesitate. Shoot us an e-mail at talk@styld.me.
