lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer
i’ve never liked summer. don’t gasp, i know that i’m not alone. i hate summer because it makes me sweat, because it prevents me from wearing scarves and hoodies, because it makes drinking a latte rather than iced coffee seem strange.
i’ve never liked going to the beach. it’s crazy, but true. i get sand in my crotch, and i am always too lazy to go to the bathroom in my one-piece bathing suit so i have to find excuses to swim aka pee in the ocean (sorry, fishies). one-piece bathing suits are a perpetual hassle, but bikinis make you look like you’re wearing your underwear in public. although, i will admit, i sometimes wear a bikini top in place of a bra when i feel like multi-tasking.
i’ve never liked popsicles. i know, they’re the classic summertime treat, but come on, who likes the feeling of sticky fingers and blue-stained tongues after you’ve finished? i’m not five anymore, i’ve outgrown all of that. besides, my teeth are sensitive and popsicles are too cold.
despite all of this, things i do love about summer:
- laying in the hammock
- backyard grills
- bragging about air conditioning (even if it is paid by your parents)
- sundresses
- citronella candles
- the ice cream man
i ask you, tumblr, what do you love/hate about summer?
