it is in the bold misuse of our contemporary vocabulary that the art of the fashion writer is seen at its best; and for those who may wish to penetrate into hitherto unexplored fields i append an all too short glossary.

deceased british novelist and critic, marghanita laski, on discussing the unfortunate pattern of fashion vocabulary amongst fashion critics. some of the words within her “glossary” include: demure, unsightly, crisp, classic, generous, nostalgic, dramatic, bold and jaunty. i consider myself among these writers, despite my extreme level of amateurishness. that’s not a word. further proof that this quote holds true and that i am an idiot.
