the kaelen spring 2012 collection

 

 

 

before last season, i didn’t know much about kaelen, neither the designer herself nor her line, but i quickly became obsessed with her unique design point-of-view. seeing the spring collection only solidified my frustration with my ever-shrinking budget and lust for the pale, flowing silks and satins shown at her presentation. the small amount of patterns and colors shown were particularly memorable: a pale, pinstriped pajama-esque maxi dress, blotted blouses and one rorschach test-like printed suit.

her use of crushed velvet, pleating and crochet were additional stand-outs.
