i know you, you’re like me, devoting a few hours of your weekend to an arts & crafts project just doesn’t sound as appealing as taking a nap/day drinking/catching up on dvr.
essex can help with that. the new e-comm site allows you to create the clutch of your dreams for $150. sure, it looks a little clare vivier, but for $150, it has more of a personal touch (it makes a better story than just “i found it in a store,” don’t you think?).

i love big bags because all my eyeglasses are so big, and it’s very hard to get any bag that fits them. and i always have to carry a lot of stuff. i’m always dragging. when you’re a bag lady, you’re a bag lady. — iris apfel

elizabeth of moveslightly’s latest runway-to-nail way manicure is all about comme des garçons play and i love it. look how cute her fingers are now—they’re smiling at you!
try and guess the potential recipient of this package:

it’s been almost a week since i was invited to christo fifth avenue for a styling session with my friend ray. remember ray? he gave me the best blow-out of my life before leaving the john sahag workshop to come work exclusively on curls. yes, you read that correctly, christo fifth avenue is one of the few salons (along with ouidad and devachan) to focus solely on wavy and curly hair of all lengths and textures.
fyi: christo fifth avenue doesn’t just do styling and cuts, the salon also provides styling, make-up application, coloring, and bridal hair design and consultations.
after getting an intense/amazing/nap-inducing shampoo and conditioning, ray split my hair into five sections—the goal in doing this is to make sure your entire head gets equal amount of product—before shaking out the strands to see where the curls fall. after that, clips were placed within the hair to ensure volume when drying. i was put under an alien probe-like machine to dry for a few minutes before getting the full diffuser treatment. if you’re new to the game, you should know that owning a diffuser is mandatory; it won’t separate your curls and encourage frizzing. i could’ve done without all the product in my hair because i tend to use as little of it as possible, but it’s fine because what i really enjoyed was not feeling like the odd [wo]man out when it came to my hair—everyone’s head looked like mine! ray was super attentive and explained each step of the process, which was highly appreciated. cost of a cut runs from $95 to $155 and i am planning on getting one in the coming months, so i’ll definitely keep you updated on that.
disclosure: i received complimentary treatment in exchange for editorial placement.
did you know that tangerine was named the pantone color of 2012? maybe you did! maybe you didn’t! either way, it was, and you should know how to wear it—primarily because it looks awesome with tan skin and summer is fast approaching. take a cue from these fine females by substituting it for your typical brights. don’t be scared!

while shades of orange do not work for all skin tones, dip your toe in the pool by adding one piece or an accessory like shoes or a clutch. here are three of my favorites:
fact: you can typically find me wearing a dark plum lip and fairly bare eye (consisting of an ivory shadow and black liquid liner on top or kohl on bottom). why am i telling you this? because i watched the met gala red carpet the other night and shouted my pleasure from the rooftops. look at all those lips! i am no longer a goth-looking wannabe! granted, lana del rey looks pretty unhappy with her new vamp status, but wouldn’t you be if you were wearing a ballgown that weighed almost as much as you do?
and, for your information, kate bosworth was wearing volga by nars.
yes, i just gave you a little press release action with your daily blog reading.
