the kate spade fall 2012 collection

enough with all the teasing, here is what i saw at the kate spade fall 2012 collection presentation in all of its glory. and glorious, it was. though i may not appear to be a kate spade girl with my grungy attire and ever-present bedhead, internally, i wish to be a modern day audrey hepburn (seriously, can i get a pet baby deer already or what?). this was exactly how i saw this line; a chic american in paris. it was mod, it was glamorous, and it was styled perfectly with all credit due to brad goreski.

i will now give you a moment to take in all of the details, which included polka dotted nails, feather trim, peter pan collars, unique clutches, and gloves galore.

did you know that the french-inspired kate spade fall 2012 collection features text and drawings by illustrator/writer/fashion photographer garance doré. now you know. doré explained the collaboration, saying, “we wanted to make my french girl and kate spade’s new york girl meet. i think they became best friends.”
also of note: she was wearing those now-infamous miu miu glitter heels (in pewter) at the presentation yesterday. they looked painful. carry on.

the rebecca minkoff fall 2012 collection

i’m not sure i’ve ever sat in a designated “blogger section” before. yesterday, it happened. after a little bout of internet-meets-real-life awkwardness as we settled in, the rebecca minkoff show opened with a live performance from theophilus london (love him). that definitely got everyone amped up to see the clothes and accessories; though there was no clear color palette or aesthetic, the pieces were definitely for every woman. there were shift dresses with cut-out shoulders, boyfriend blazers, brocade biker jackets, and minkoff’s signature handbags. an a+ for wearability. see the entire collection here.

pardon my french, but i would like to have babies with the tiny breakfast sandwiches that that cater waiter was carrying around at kate spade. seriously. best hors d’oeuvres ever. oh yeah, and the clothes were pretty great, too. check back a little later for those.

the monika chiang fall 2012 collection

i won’t lie to you, i had no idea who monika chiang was before yesterday morning. the designer opened up two boutiques—one in nyc, the other in west hollywood—in a mere five months, which is impressive in itself, so i expected a standout collection of the leather goods she’s focused on since the creation of her line in 2011.

yup, all of what you see above was birthed after less than a year in the biz. look at those buttery leather gloves and on-point paneling (admittedly, a bit tory burch); view the sky-high platforms with studded heels; check out the exotic materials that make up chiang’s handbags. would you believe that not one piece costs above $600? girl, you can price yourself way higher than that. you’re showing at fashion week, for goodness sake! i suppose this shows your inexperience, but it’s okay—you’ll learn.

try to avoid staring at her chest…and granny panties. i just. i don’t even know.

day 1: faux fur, peplum, clare vivier clutch, lots ‘o’ rings (“granny chic”)
